This mama. I met her back in December of 2012. I had moved to Nashville a few months prior and received her name as a photographer for my daughter’s one year photos. She was so much fun and patient and brought a smash cake and helped me bathe my daughter afterwards.
And the whole time we chatted. We chatted about her pre-mom life and her career transitions and what led her to becoming a professional photographer. As a new mom who had just changed from full-time career work to working from home to staying at home, all in a matter of a year, and then having no idea what I wanted in my new mom gig in my new city, I remember listening to her story and thinking, “I wish I had something like that.”
So I went searching for it. I took over the decorating and floral arrangements of my sister-in-law’s wedding. I worked part-time. I blogged. I sat with mom friends who were also trying to figure all of this out. And then I had my second kid and picked up a camera and I got HOOKED.
I remember this mama reached out to me around my son’s first birthday, asking if I’d be interested in a one year session for him. I (somewhat embarrassingly) stated that I would be attempting his one year photos. She was so sweet and supportive and offered to help me in anyway possible. With that vote of confidence, I propped my son in front of cake in our spare bedroom (next to white curtains - bad idea) and posted the photos for my first critique with ClickinMoms and boom - I was down the rabbit hole.
Fast forward to now, and I’m a Click Pro through ClickinMoms and I had the honor of capturing that mama who gave me the lightbulb moment of “I wish I had something like that.” Who knew it’d be the same thing as hers? Full circle moment. And I’m so grateful for it.
Enjoy this beautiful mama who means so much to me and her beautiful babies…
